I just came back from Hong Kong but I already want to go back again! :D Managed to do quite a few things, including visiting the Studio Ghibli layout designs exhibition (It was awesome!!). Also joined Sketch Hong Kong for a culture and heritage sketchwalk around Causeway Bay. I did more than 30 sketches during the trip, most were done while eating or waiting for food :)

Went to KL and Seremban for a short trip last month. We arrived at the Larkin bus terminal around 2:30pm on that day, and bought tickets for the 3pm bus to KL. However, the bus didn’t take off until almost 4:45pm!! It seems that there were too few people on the bus so they keep delaying while trying to get more people to get on the bus… They even pretend to count the number of people on the bus and took our tickets so that we cannot get off the bus or get refund! How ridiculous…. I drew the bus terminal building and the bus next to us while waiting…

The highlight of Feburary is my first ever oversea sketch trip with the UrbanSketchers Singapore members at Bangkok, Thailand. It was a 2-day event organized by the Bangkok sketchers as part of the community festival that celebrate a heredity area next to the Chao Phraya River. I am impressed by the hospitality and the organization of the BKK sketchers. I enjoyed the experience very much and would sure be back to BKK!

Just realized that the first EDM drawing I did was in 2006! I had kinda stopped following the list the last few years, but now I’m re-doing the list all over again, using Paper 53 on the new iPad. I’m posting them on my tumblr blog – whydoodle. I will also post a summary / highlight here from time to time. Hope you’ll enjoy!

Drew this on a very hot afternoon, it was so hot that I don’t want to leave the room because it has air conditioning. I was bored and wanted to sketch, but there isn’t much interesting things to sketch in this very ordinary room, so I came up with this – draw the 360 view of the room. I added in the color in Photoshop later after scanning the sketch.

I drew this last week, on a rainy morning. This is the 8×8″ Earth Care Sketch Book that I bought a while ago, with 22 sheets of 160gsm white drawing paper. The paper doesn’t take ink and watercolor that well, it bleeds to the next page!

Got a pack of Staedtler triplus fineliner (0.3mm, 6 colors) from Popular Book store for S$4. I tested it on a yellow color memo pad. It bleeds to the back of the page, and even the next page if you did not move the pen fast enough. The ink is not waterproof too. Out of the 6 colors in the pack (black, blue, red, green, purple, orange), I like the orange color most.

We need to pick up a guest at the Woodlands train station two weeks ago so we went there for the first time, but it was a horrible experience. First, we waited more than 30 minutes for the bus. Then, we got caught in a traffic jam and the bus moved very slowly, it took us more than 75 minutes to get to Woodlands. The worst part is, we did not get off the bus at the right station because a lot of people got on the bus at Kranji and totally blocked our view/way. Before we knew, we were already at the Immigration Tower where we were asked to show our passports! Of course we did not have passports with us, as we had no intention of going across the border and just want to go to the train station. But there is no way out from there, and we had to ask the security guard/immigration officer for help. Finally, we had to hand in our IDs to the officers there, and wait for an armed guard/officer to escort us through the tower. We waited for around 30 minutes before an officer came. We were then took to a room where we had to wait again for our IDs to be checked. I cannot believe what we had gone through! It was well passed 7pm when we finally get to the train station, when we were supposed to be there at 5:30. We decided to take a cab back after picking up our guest, and it only took us around 25 min to be back in town.

There’s nothing much on in the wee hours of the morning..so I just tuned into the sports channel. I got to see ManUtd for 1 min, and then most of it were about basketball….That’s the dryer in the laundry room…

I hate drawing hands, never got it right, here are my failed attempts:
I painted it with watercolor directly , but it looks awful. Then I draw it with a pen, and add watercolor later, but the ink blend with the watercolor and the color looks terrible, and the hand looks like a zombie’s hand.

bottlegreen ‘s spring water, elderflower flavor. It said on the lable that it is “A refreshing spring water beverage blended with fresh English elderflowers”.
I bought it because I liked the bottle, and I’ve been wanting to try elderflowers. It tasted pretty good, I like the smell. I also had fun taking pictures of it, and it’s a great filter.
